2011 e-Excellence Research

Launched in 2004, the e-Excellence programme utilises F&TRC's research to produce dedicated analysis to help providers understand to what extent their competitors are delivering e-enabled services and how these are meeting the needs of the intermediary sector.

e-Excellence research examines the e-commerce capabilities of leading providers, particularly in the area of servicing including client access to information and pre-population links.  Our research examines providers' online facilities available to intermediaries, principally focussing on where    e-commerce can deliver a specific advantage to providers'.  Typically, e-Excellence research explores:

  • How well placed providers are to support intermediaries
  • Significant developments/changes in the industry, including new business models, regulatory changes, advice and working practices within the intermediary market place
  • Areas of key functionality intermediaries expect from an online service, both now and in the future
  • Extent of reuse of data in driving up new business processes and renewals
  • Depth of integration with third parties, e.g. sourcing systems/platforms and client management systems
  • How mobile communications and social media might affect future business activities

What sets e-Excellence research apart?

One of the key differentiators which separate e-Excellence surveys from other e-commerce research, awards and ratings is that all providers are measured against the same objective scoring model for each particular product area.  A provider either has a particular piece of functionality or they do not - we deliberately do not include any subjective measures.

Whilst there is a role for subjective research, our perspective is that this is already available from a plethora of different sources - this was one of the main drivers behind creating a process that delivered entirely objective benchmarks.
